Authenticity and Certificates

This page explains MOSO's disclosure rules for stone identity, metal, carat wording and included reports. It is not a promise that every item has the same specification or carries a certificate.

The selected product page controls

Use the title, specifications and selected option on the individual product page for the piece you intend to buy. Stone type, colour, cut, dimensions, carat wording, metal, plating, size and included items can vary across the catalogue. Details from another MOSO product do not automatically apply to yours.

If one specification is essential to your decision, send MOSO the product link and selected option before ordering and ask for that point to be confirmed in writing.

Moissanite is not diamond or cubic zirconia

Moissanite is a distinct gemstone with its own chemical composition and optical behaviour. It is not natural diamond, laboratory-grown diamond, cubic zirconia or natural zircon. GIA's educational material on gem imitations explains how these materials differ and why appearance alone is not a complete identification method.

MOSO's commercial catalogue is for moissanite jewellery. The individual product page must identify the stone used in that item; a style name or photograph is not a substitute for the specification.

How to read carat wording

A moissanite carat reference can describe a diamond-equivalent visual size rather than the stone's physical weight. Where a listing provides millimetre dimensions, use them to understand the visible face-up size. Do not compare two pieces by a carat number alone when shape, cut and dimensions differ.

When a certificate or product report is included

A certificate or product report is included only when the individual product page expressly says it is included. Do not assume that every MOSO piece carries a laboratory report, and do not infer one from photographs of a different item.

A report records information supplied or observed for the item submitted to its issuer. It is not, by itself, a guarantee of market price, resale value or investment performance. It also does not replace the need to compare the report with the product received.

GRA is not GIA

A report labelled GRA is not issued by the Gemological Institute of America. GIA's Report Check is for eligible GIA reports; it does not validate a separate report issued by another organisation. Read the issuer name and report number carefully rather than relying on similar initials or layout.

What an electronic tester can—and cannot—show

Some thermal testers can respond to moissanite in a way that resembles a diamond response. Results depend on the device, calibration, stone size, setting and method. GIA research on synthetic moissanite has noted that a conventional thermal probe by itself is not sufficient for conclusive separation. A single tester reading therefore does not prove identity, grade, origin or value.

For a step-by-step buying and verification workflow, read How to Verify Moissanite Jewellery in the UAE.

Metal and finish disclosures

Check the selected product for its stated metal, purity and finish. Sterling silver can tarnish, and plating can gradually wear at points of contact. These changes can occur through normal use and do not alone prove that the original description was incorrect. The Jewellery Care guide explains how material and setting affect care.

A five-point check before ordering

  1. Confirm that the stone is explicitly described as moissanite.
  2. Read the metal, purity, plating and size details for the selected option.
  3. Check whether carat wording is physical weight or an equivalent-size reference.
  4. Confirm whether a certificate or product report is actually listed as included.
  5. Save the product page or written confirmation for the option you purchase.

If the item or report does not match

Do not wear, resize, clean or alter the piece. Keep the packaging and included documents, photograph the item and report, and contact MOSO with the order number and product link. Follow the process in the Refund Policy; the registered office is not automatically the return address.

Need one detail confirmed?

Use the Contact MOSO page and state the exact stone, metal, dimension, option or report detail you want checked. A narrow question can be confirmed more reliably than a general request for “authenticity”.
