Care should protect the stone, setting and finish without assuming that every MOSO piece is made the same way. Begin with the specifications on the individual product page, then use the cautious routine below. If those instructions conflict, the product-specific guidance takes priority.
A simple routine after wear
- Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray, cosmetics and lotion have dried.
- Remove it before showering, swimming, exercise, sleep or manual work.
- Keep it away from chlorine, salt water, bleach, household cleaners and strong chemicals.
- Protect the piece from hard knocks, bending, pulling and abrasive surfaces.
- Wipe it gently with a clean, soft cloth before storing it separately.
GIA's general jewellery-care guidance also cautions that chemicals can damage or discolour metals and some gemstones. That general advice does not replace the instructions for a specific product or finish.
How to clean a piece at home
- Check the product specifications and setting for loose or damaged parts before cleaning.
- Prepare lukewarm water with a small amount of mild soap.
- Use a very soft brush around the setting and beneath the stone without forcing the prongs.
- Rinse carefully with clean lukewarm water.
- Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth and let the piece dry fully before storage.
Do not use bleach, abrasive paste or a harsh household cleaner. Do not place the piece in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner unless a qualified jeweller has confirmed that the exact stone, setting, treatment and finish are suitable. GIA notes that ultrasonic cleaning is not safe for every gem or construction.
Storage that prevents avoidable damage
Store each piece separately in a clean, dry pouch or lined compartment. Close clasps before putting chains away, and lay delicate chains or tennis-style pieces flat where possible. Separate storage reduces scratches, tangles and contact between different metals.
Avoid long-term bathroom storage, direct sunlight and damp spaces. The UAE climate can make careful drying and dry storage especially important after wear.
Rings and stone settings
Look at the setting before regular wear. If a stone moves, a prong catches on fabric, the band becomes misshapen or the piece sounds different when handled, stop wearing it. Continuing to wear a loose setting can turn a small concern into stone loss or further damage.
Chains, clasps and tennis-style pieces
Do not pull or twist a fine chain to remove a tangle. Open and close the clasp using its intended mechanism rather than the chain itself. Avoid wearing linked tennis settings while sleeping or exercising, when repeated bending or snagging is more likely.
Sterling silver, plating and normal change
Sterling silver can tarnish through exposure to air, moisture and chemicals. A plated finish can gradually wear at frequent contact points. Gentle cleaning and separate storage can slow those changes, but care cannot make a plated surface permanent. Check the selected product for its actual metal and finish before using a polishing product.
When a qualified jeweller should inspect the piece
Periodic inspection can be useful for jewellery worn often, particularly after an impact or when a stone, prong, clasp or band no longer sits as it did. This is advice to seek a qualified local jeweller; it is not a claim that MOSO operates an in-house inspection service.
When to contact MOSO
If the concern may relate to delivery, a mismatch or a possible issue present when supplied, stop wearing the item and keep the packaging. Contact MOSO with the order number and clear photographs, then follow the Warranty and Product Assessment process. Read the Refund Policy before sending anything.
